Athletic Training
Athletic Trainer: Jennifer WettigAssistant Athletic Trainer: Sarah BrownFor questions that arise over the summer, e-mail Miss Brown.Training services are housed in the Orthopedic Associates of Lancaster Training Room. Athletic Trainers (ATs) are health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to provide preventative services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions.
Winter 2024-2025 Concussion Baseline Testing

Concussion testing is being held Nov 12th, 13th and 19th. November 19th is for Jr High teams only.Testing will be held in room 121 starting at 3:30 pm until 4:30 on each day.
If you are unsure if your athlete requires testing or has sustained a head injury since the last testing, please email Jennifer_wettig@hempfieldsd.org.
Winter 2024-2025 PaperworkATS portals will be open starting October 4th, for winter sports. Sections 1-5, 7 (recert), hazing and extracurricular can be completed in the portal. Section 6 (doctor page) can be printed off from the portal, as well as the school website. If an athlete played a fall sport this school year they will need to complete Section 7 only (as they have already completed sections 1-6, hazing and extracurricular).WINTER FORMS DUE BY NO6VEMBER 8th.
Student Trainer Program
The student athletic training program provides students with a hands on experience to aid student-athletes with first aid and the recovery process following injuries. Students will learn injury prevention, injury recovery processes, athletic training room management, and sports psychology among other topics.
Student AT’s are required to participate in a minimum of two sports seasons. Students in the program need to be highly motivated, dedicated, on time, self-starters, able to work well with others, positive role models and eager to learn.

- ImPACT Testing is required for all sports except cross country, tennis and track (pole vaulters will do ImPACT testing)

-All athletes must set up an Athlete Profile on ATS.
-Athletes have the option of completing their Physical Exam paperwork using the ATS system
Coaching Courses (Required for All Coaching Staff)
Each coach must complete ConcussionWise and CardiacWise each year. A verification email will be sent following completion of the course; please forward this e-mail to the Athletic Office.
