About Hempfield Athletics

  • The Hempfield Board of School Directors provides funding for 24 varsity sports and a total of 66 teams competing at the varsity, junior varsity, junior high, and junior high junior varsity levels.

Athletics are recognized as an integral part of the total educational program of the Hempfield School District. The first and foremost purpose of the Hempfield School District is to provide the best education for our student athletes. Athletics are an extension of the academic curriculum. Athletics contribute to the physical, social, emotional and moral development of the students involved.

Since it is a privilege to participate on extracurricular teams, each student athlete carries with them responsibilities and expectations set forth by the PIAA and the Hempfield Board of School Directors.

Our goal is to develop highly competitive athletes without losing sight of the educational process and its values of sportsmanship, health, and scholastic achievement.

In 2018-2019 the Black Knights combined to win 3 LL Section Championships, 2 LL Championships, 2 Individual LL Championships, and 1 Individual District 3 Championship.  The Black Knights have combined for 17 PIAA Championships in the past 19 years.

  • ATS Help Session Tomorrow, February 19

Posted by Kimberly Snyder on 2/18/2020 9:45:00 AM

In preparation for the spring season, the athletic department will host three Athletic Training System (ATS) Help Sessions during the month of February. These sessions are open to all parents/guardians and student-athletes and will be held in Room 121 at Hempfield High School.

The remaining dates will be February 19, and 25 from 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. The sessions will be a “drop-in” format.

A representative from our athletic training staff will be at the session as well as a representative from the athletic department. Our goal is for the parents or student-athletes to walk out of the session with an ATS account and a completed uploaded athletic physical form or recertification form.

In advance to the session, parents/guardians and students should establish a PowerSchool account. How to create a Power School account is available on the Hempfield School District under the Operations tab>Technology Department>PowerSchool.

Also, please bring your student’s HSD school login information (username and password), insurance information (company name, policy number, etc.), and name of pediatrician.

Insurance information and name of pediatrician will need to be uploaded into the ATS system, along with current athletic physical, before the first day of official PIAA practice on November 18.

Posted by Kimberly Snyder on 2/13/2020 3:45:00 PM

We are pleased to announce that Mr. George Eager is being recommended to the HSD School Board for the position of varsity head football coach. This position will be on the board agenda for approval in March. Mr. Eager is currently a Social Studies teacher at Hempfield High School.

From the Fall of 2016 to present, Mr. Eager served as an Assistant Coach for our HHS football program. Prior to joining the Hempfield football coaching team, he was an assistant coach at both Wilson High School and Manheim Township High School. Mr. Eager has also served as a Defensive Back Assistant Coach and Receiver’s Coach at Franklin & Marshall College.

During his high school career at Manheim Township School District, Mr. Eager was a four-year football player and team captain. He was inducted into the Manheim Township Hall of Fame for both football and baseball in 2015. During his college experience at Franklin & Marshall, he was an all-conference wide receiver and kick returner.

We are excited about the broad experience Mr. Eager will bring to our HHS football program. Over the next several weeks, he will be communicating to the Hempfield football community about opportunities he will put in place to begin building relationships with our football players and parents/guardians.
