Free and Reduced Meals: How to Apply
Families may apply for free or reduced-priced meals at any time during the school year. Every year, one family application must be completed. Applications are approved based on federal standards for family size and income.Select one of the following three methods to apply:
Hempfield School District SchoolCaféThis online process is fast and easy to follow, offering a step-by-step process that is confidential and allows for quicker approval processing. Visit SchoolCafé to apply online. Step-by-step instructions on how to apply using SchoolCafé can be found to the right under Resources. If you do not have computer access, a computer is available in the Food Services Office to complete this application.
Online State ApplicationCOMPASS, a system used by the Department of Public Welfare, allows Pennsylvanians to apply for programs, such as Free & Reduced Price School Meals, Food Stamps, Energy Assistance, Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), etc.
Paper ApplicationPaper applications are available only upon request and should be returned to school with your child. If you have questions or need assistance in completing your application, contact the Food Services office at (717) 898-5566.
