Medical Screenings
Home school students are eligible to participate in optional medical screenings provided by the Hempfield Nursing Staff. For more information or to schedule an appointment contact the corresponding neighborhood school.
Extracurricular Activities
All home school students in the district are eligible to participate in extracurricular activities offered by the district, including high school clubs, performing arts, and athletics.
PSSA/Keystone Exams
PSSA tests are taken in grades 3 through 8. Keystone exams are end-of-course assessments taken at the conclusion of Algebra 1B, English 10, and Biology, regardless of what grade students are in at the time.
Home school students are eligible to take PSSA tests or Keystone exams with district-enrolled students. To schedule these, parents must contact the principal of their neighborhood school no later than October 1. To find out which building principal to contact, call Student Services at 717-459-9009.
Curriculum Resources
Families who choose to home school can access free resources on Hempfield School District’s K-12 curriculum page. These resources can help in developing learning goals and objectives. Additional resources and educational materials are also available from your school of geographic enrollment. To learn more about borrowing materials, please contact the building principal.
For students in grades 6 through 12, the Pennsylvania Department of Education created the Pennsylvania Core Standards, which highlights content standards across core curricular areas. Home school families may use this resource by selecting the grade level and subject area.
