Hempfield High School Counseling Office

  • A school counselor provides a variety of services to students and families including individual and small group counseling. Other responsibilities include working with education support teams, managing 504 Accommodation Plans, helping students transition to a new school or grade level, and conducting mediations.

The mission of the Hempfield School District Counseling Department is to provide a progressive, comprehensive, and data-driven K-12 school counseling program addressing the academic, career, and social/emotional developmental needs of all students.

Counselor assignments have been changed for the 2017-18 school year. We have been fortunate to be able to provide each grade level with two counselors. Starting this year, the ninth-grade counselors will follow their students through tenth grade and will loop back to 9th grade. Eleventh grade counselors will loop with their students through twelfth grade. This two year loop will provide students with supports aimed at the unique opportunities each grade presents. The ninth and tenth grade years will focus on acclimating to the high school, promoting career awareness and planning for high school. In eleventh and twelfth grade, we will continue to focus on enhancing academic and personal/social skills but we will place an even greater emphasis on post-secondary planning and offering opportunities here at Hempfield High School. We are committed to ensuring that all of our students have post-secondary plans and the means to carry out those plans.
