  • HHS Lockdown Drill Today

Posted by Bill Brossman on 10/10/2024 10:30:00 AM

HHS conducted a Lockdown Drill today. Today’s drill was designed to allow students and staff to hear the lockdown announcement and discuss how they would respond to the alarm in their given situation.  Students were informed at the end of period 2 that we would be conducting a drill. This drill provided us with an opportunity to discuss the need to think before we act. At the conclusion of the drill, students resumed their day and continued to their period 3 classes.

Thank you to our staff and students for their cooperation and diligence in conducting our safety drills (Fire, Severe Weather, Lockdown, Hold).

  • PSAT and ASVAB Testing this Week

Posted by Bill Brossman on 10/7/2024 8:00:00 AM

Junior students who registered to take the PSAT will be taking the exam this week on Tuesday, October 8th and Wednesday, October 9th.  Over the past few weeks, students have worked through two readiness sessions to prepare their devices and complete the pre-testing registration.

Students will be tested in two groups:

    • Tuesday, October 8th - Students with last names beginning with A-Kh.

    • Wednesday, October 9th - Students with last names beginning with Ki-Z.

In preparation for testing this week, students should be sure that their devices are fully charged and report to their testing location no later than 7:40am. Testing locations were communicated with students during their readiness sessions last week.

Any students who are unexpectedly unable to attend their testing session, a makeup session will be offered the morning of Wednesday, October 16th.

Finally, students who registered to take the ASVAB will be taking the exam on the morning of Friday, October 11th.

  • This Week at HHS

Posted by Bill Brossman on 10/6/2024 12:00:00 PM

    This Week at HHS

    Principal’s Message

    HHS Community,

It’s hard to believe, but we only have a little over 3 weeks remaining in the first marking period. I would like to encourage families to check in with their students and their grades. Time is running out for students to earn the grades they may want to earn this marking period. Please help us encourage your students to utilize their class time and WIN time to meet their goals.

Last week we held a Safety/Security assembly with students to review our procedures at HHS. I’d like to thank Ofc. Nagle from the EHTPD for sharing his expertise with our students. Parents you are invited to attend a presentation on HHS Safety and Security this Tuesday at 6:00pm in LG2. You will enter HHS through the main lobby on the Franklin side of the building off Stanley Ave. Ofc. Stamm, Our School Resource Officer, Bill Gleason, our District Safety Security Supervisor, and myself will be on hand to share relevant information. As I shared with our students at last week’s assembly, we will be conducting our Fall Lockdown drill at HHS this week.

Thank you and have a wonderful week!

    Items of Note:

We need your help! On November 6 and 7, Junior Achievement of South Central PA will host a STEM Summit for all 9th grade students (Class of 2028). The students will participate in the day-long event designed to explore careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. For the day to be a success, we will need volunteers to facilitate one of the STEM activities for the day as students rotate through your station. You do not need to have a STEM background to be a great volunteer. If we do not have these volunteer spots filled, we are in danger of not being able to run this meaningful event. Please share this information with your friends, neighbors, and colleagues who may be interested in helping our students. Register at the link below.
