A School Resource Officer (SRO) is a law enforcement officer who is assigned to a school. The main goal of the SRO is to provide a highly visible presence that promotes positive relationships between youth and law enforcement that, in turn, helps prevent juvenile delinquency. An SRO has a diverse role in the school community and has many duties and responsibilities, including serving as a positive role model, maintaining a close partnership with school administrators to provide for a safe and secure environment on campus, educating students by teaching in law-related classes, and counseling both students and parents on various topics.
Beginning with the 2022-23 school year, HHS welcomed School Resource Officer, Officer Brennan Stamm. Officer Stamm has been with East Hempfield Township Police Department for nine years, after graduating from Middletown Area High School and the Pennsylvania State University. Officer Stamm received his Act 120 Certification from Harrisburg Area Community College with the 100th Police Academy and is a member of the Lancaster County Crisis Intervention Team.
We are happy to have Officer Stamm as our SRO at Hempfield High School. This position has been and will continue to be instrumental to the process of promoting positive behavior in our high school comprised of more than 2,200 students.
