School Resource Officer

  • A School Resource Officer (SRO) is a law enforcement officer who is assigned to a school. The main goal of the SRO is to provide a highly visible presence that promotes positive relationships between youth and law enforcement that, in turn, helps prevent juvenile delinquency. An SRO has a diverse role in the school community and has many duties and responsibilities, including serving as a positive role model, maintaining a close partnership with school administrators to provide for a safe and secure environment on campus, educating students by teaching in law-related classes, and counseling both students and parents on various topics.

In January 2025, we welcomed East Hempfield Police Officer Kyle Brown as the newest member of our safety and security team. Officer Brown focuses primarily on building strong, positive relationships with students at both middle schools, where he serves as a mentor, role model, and advocate for a safe learning environment. He also works closely with HHS School Resource Officer Stamm and the rest of the school safety team.

A dedicated member of the East Hempfield Township Police Department for ten years, Officer Brown brings a wealth of experience, including roles as a defensive tactics instructor, firearms instructor, and former member of the Lancaster County SERT team.
