  • WCMS Daily Announcements For March 25

    Our next school day is Tuesday, March 26, Cycle day 5. We will be operating on a regular bell schedule. 

     

    Here are today’s announcements!

    • Attention all seventh graders, do you enjoy making and editing videos, working with others, and getting hands on experience with real life technology. If so, consider trying out for WCMS. We are looking for 10 awesome students to become members of WCMS for the 2019-2020 school year. If you are interested, there will be an informational meeting Wednesday March 27, cycle day 6 during flex. Please check in with your flex teacher on this day and then report to room 204!

  • This Week at CMS: March 22

    This past week at CMS students in Mrs. Langione’s Life Science classes investigated natural selection while Mr. Martin’s Earth Science classes investigated heating of land and sea surfaces. Grade 8 Tech Ed classes continued race car production and Family and Consumer Science classes continued to make their knapsacks. Finally, Mrs. Hazlett’s classes completed a problem solving challenge.

  • WCMS Daily Announcements For March 22

    Our next school day is Monday, March 25, Cycle Day 4. We will be operating on a club bell schedule. 

    Here are today’s announcements!

    • Any 8 grade student that is interested in taking the Fundamentals of Design art course over the summer, please stop by the guidance office for an application. 
    • Attention all seventh graders, do you enjoy making and editing videos, working with others, and getting hands on experience with real life technology. If so, consider trying out for WCMS. We are looking for 10  awesome students to become members of WCMS for the 2019-2020 school year. If you are interested, there will be an informational meeting Wednesday March 27, cycle day 6 during flex.     • Congrats to the members of the CMS chess team, who placed second by just 1 point in yesterday's Individuals Tournament at Hershey Middle School. Both David Striggle and Joey Striggle each brought home a first place flight trophy, and the team brought home the league 4th place round robin trophy. 
    • Starting tonight the Regal Cinema on Manor Street will be a part of the limited release of the movie The Samuel Project starring Ryan Ochoa.  The movie is written, directed, and edited by a 1989 graduate of Hempfield High School, Mr Marc Fusco. He and one of the actresses in the movie will be in town for the premiere of this film, with a question and answer session following some of weekend the showings. Come out and support a former Hempfield student, and learn how he got from Hempfield to Hollywood. Please stay tuned for a short video regarding The Samuel Project!

  • North Museum Science & Engineering Fair Winners

    A total of 60 students from Hempfield School District students from Centerville Middle School, Landisville Middle School and Hempfield High School that took awards at last week's North Museum Science and Engineering Fair, held at Millersville University.

    Congratulations to the following Centerville Middle School students on their awards and recognitions:

    • Luke Paglia – Consumer Science - Honorable Mention/Lancaster County Pharmacist Association Award
    • Daniel Hufnagle – Earth Science – 1st Place/Broadcom Masters
    • Molly Heilshorn – Engineering – 1st Place/Broadcom Masters/Michael and Paula Shifflet's Creative Solutions to Lancaster County Problems Award
    • Sean Funk – Engineering - Honorable Mention/Society of Manufacturing Engineers Award
    • Zeke Stephens – Life Science – 1st Place/Broadcom Masters
    • Amelia Karamanos – Physical Science -1st Place/Broadcom Masters
    • Ari Warren – Physical Science - Honorable Mention
    • Marlee Lauris – Union Fire Company # 1 of Lancaster Award
    • Jessica Decker – ASM International South Central PA Excellence in Materials and Science Engineering Award
    • Ashley Page – Lancaster County Fireman’s Association Fire Science Award

  • WCMS Daily Announcements For March 21

    Tomorrow is Friday, March 22, Cycle day 3. We will be operating on a regular bell schedule.  

    Here are today’s announcements! 

    • The 61st annual bee will be held at 7:00 p.m. March 22 at Gerald G. Huesken Middle School, 500 Mount Sidney Road, Lancaster. The event, which is open to the public, will also be livestreamed on LancasterOnline.  Lancaster News Paper will send the winner to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in National Harbor, Maryland, the last week of May. The Lancaster County students, who won school and district bees, advance to the final competition after taking a written spelling exam of 100 words Feb. 27.
    • Attention all seventh graders, do you enjoy making and editing videos, working with others, and getting hands on experience with real life technology?  If so, consider trying out for WCMS. We are looking for 10 awesome students to become members of WCMS for the 2019-2020 school year.     • It's time for March Madness- March BOOK Madness that is! Voting is now open for the first round of contenders. Vote using the Google form found in the Schoology Library course, or QR codes posted in the library. Which book will be crowned champion this year?
    • Today during FLEX (12:10 – 12:40 p.m.), students will have the opportunity to get a Philadelphia soft pretzel. Students should wait in their FLEX classrooms until a volunteer comes to your classroom. There will be stations in each hallway with volunteers. Only one classroom at a time will come out to the station. Students will get their soft pretzel and return to FLEX.
