  • There's Still Time to Donate to the Hempfield Food Drive

Posted by Brooke Fisher on 2/21/2024 10:00:00 AM

There is about one week left of the 14th Annual Hempfield Food Drive, presented by JK Mechanical! Each building in the district is collecting non-perishable food items to be donated to the Hempfield Area Food Pantry.

Food items can be dropped off at the main lobby of each school until the morning of Friday, March 1. All non-perishables will be accepted, but please refer to this photo for specific items in need.

From July 2023 through December 2023, the Hempfield Area Food Pantry served an average of 1,885 individuals each month which included 536 children; 923 adults; and 426 seniors per month. Currently, they have 295 families registered to receive food, all within the boundaries of the Hempfield School District.

Your generosity can help us surpass last year's donation of 6,038 lbs. of food!

  • 9th Grade Course Selection Verification

Posted by Bill Brossman on 2/20/2024 9:00:00 AM

    8th Grade Families,

Today during homeroom, teachers distributed pink course selection verification sheets (pink sheets). Students need to take the pink sheets home, review their selections with their parents/guardians and then return the signed forms to their homeroom teachers by this Friday, February 23rd. This is the next step in our course selection process. It is important that families confirm their selections and make any changes now before we build next year’s schedule. After the schedule is built, it is much more difficult to accommodate student requests.

    Thank You

  • Password Change and the 14th Annual Hempfield Food Drive

Posted by Lisa Mumma on 2/20/2024 5:15:00 AM

I would like to bring to your attention two significant initiatives that are happening right now. Both of these efforts underscore our commitment to ensuring a secure and supportive environment for our students while also fostering a spirit of community and giving back.

    Important Password Change for Students

First and foremost, an essential update for our students (grades 7-12) is on the horizon. Starting Wednesday, February 21st, students will be required to use new passwords to access Hempfield School District systems. This change is a part of our ongoing commitment to cybersecurity and ensuring that our students' information remains protected.

Students began receiving their new district passwords via email starting Wednesday, February 7th and received daily reminders through today, Tuesday, February 20th. This proactive approach ensures that all students are well-informed and ready for the transition. The email notification students are receiving includes all the necessary details, including the new password—like the example "GreatSunny153"—and the exact date and time the change takes effect: February 22, 2023, between 5 am and 7 am.

The systems that will utilize the new password include Schoology, PowerSchool, Office 365 Suite (Email), Google Suite, Clever, Edgenuity, and Destiny. We understand that changes like these can be a bit daunting, so we're here to help. If students encounter any problems using the new password on February 22nd, they are encouraged to alert one of their teachers immediately.

The 14th Annual Hempfield Food Drive

This is a reminder of the continuation of a cherished tradition—the 14th Annual Hempfield Food Drive. In collaboration with JK Mechanical and Market Street Sports Group, this year's food drive promises to be as impactful as ever. Throughout February, we are collecting essential food items to be donated to the Hempfield Area Food Pantry, a cause that is close to our hearts.

The food drive focuses on collecting specific items needed by the pantry, including elbow macaroni, egg noodles, mac and cheese, 18 oz jelly, cereal, and various canned goods such as pineapple, peaches, fruit cocktail, spinach, mixed vegetables, corn, tomatoes, kidney beans, carrots, chicken noodle soup, spaghetti sauce, and beef or chicken broth.

This initiative offers a wonderful opportunity for our students, staff, and the wider community to come together and make a tangible difference in the lives of those in need. We encourage everyone to participate and help us make this year's food drive the most successful one yet.

Join Us in Making a Difference

Both the password change initiative and the 14th Annual Hempfield Food Drive highlight our district's dedication to creating a safe, secure, and supportive community. We thank you in advance for your cooperation with the password change and your generous contributions to the food drive. Together, we can make a significant impact.

The Minutemen teachers would like to recognize 3 Minutemen as Magnificent Minutemen this week. These students were selected because they consistently demonstrated the Minutemen "P" words: Prepared, Punctual, Positive, Polite, Persistent, and Productive. Congratulations Ryleigh Miller, Kyle Ni, and Johnny Deitrich!
