Posted by Kimberly Snyder on 11/23/2021 3:00:00 PM

We still have a need for 8 volunteers for an event at Landisville Middle School on December 17, 2021.

Junior Achievement of South Central PA will be here with their YES! program. All students in 7th and 8th grades will be participating in a morning of activities related to Career Readiness and Financial Literacy.

Volunteers will facilitate one of these activities during the morning as students rotate through. Online training is provided as well as on-site support. We will also provide a light breakfast for volunteers!

I hope you will join us as we spend the day empowering and inspiring our students. I hope you will also share this opportunity with other friends, neighbors, and colleagues who may be interested in helping the students at our school.

Posted by Cheryl Irwin-Bass on 11/19/2021 10:00:00 AM

Today, Friday, November 19, is the first day of the 2021-2022 winter athletic season. Immediately following school today, from 3:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m., there will be an athletic trainer in the high school athletic training room to assist student-athletes and parents who have questions or need help uploading PIAA athletic physical documents into the ATS system. Student-athletes and parents can access the athletic training room by entering door D5 at the Buchanan Office at the high school.

Additionally, as staffing and time allows, an athletic trainer will visit the off-site practice locations to check-in with teams. If you need to contact the high school athletic training room, the number is 717-618-7003. Go Black Knights!

  • Support The Hempfield Foundation Today During ExtraGive

Posted by Kimberly Snyder on 11/19/2021 9:00:00 AM

The Hempfield Foundation is participating in The Extraordinary Give 2021 today, Friday, November 19 to support Hempfield's extraordinary teachers and staff who are doing extraordinary work, during extraordinary times!

The Foundation is a separate not-for-profit organization that uses funds raised through ExtraGive to pay for the great ideas teachers and staff come up with to help students learn, create, and compete. Teachers use grants from the Foundation to purchase innovative classroom resources, to break down barriers for students with special needs, to bring talented artists to schools, and to introduce students to cutting-edge equipment and technology. A full list of the projects and initiatives funded in the past year by the Foundation can be found in their 2021 Annual Report. In addition, a portion of the monies received through ExtraGive will be used to show our teachers and staff just how much we appreciate all they are doing for students.

You can make your contribution on the ExtraGive website anytime on Friday, November 19. You can also give a personal shout out to a specific teacher(s) by emailing the Foundation. ExtraGive encourages small donations (as little as $10) because together they have a BIG impact!

For additional information or to tell the Foundation who you’d like to honor with your contribution, please contact Scott Bishop, Hempfield Foundation Executive Director, at 717-575-9813 or hempfieldfoundation@gmail.com.

  • 2021-22 Winter Weather Reminders

Posted by Kimberly Snyder on 11/17/2021 3:15:00 PM

On days when the weather forecast calls for snow or ice, please stay tuned to Hempfield’s communication channels (district text system, social media, and website) for ongoing closing and delay information updates.

    Unplanned Early Dismissals

In the event of an unplanned early dismissal, we will use our automated calling system to inform you of the dismissal. Any contact flagged as “Emergency” or “Lives With” within PowerSchool will receive the automated call. Notifications will also be posted to the regular Hempfield School District communication channels.

    Recess Winter Weather Guidelines

Anytime the “real feel” temperature, which factors the impact of wind chill on the actual temperature, drops below 20˚F, students will not go outside for recess. Principals will use their discretion if weather conditions are such that the real feel temperature is at or above 20˚F.

Students should dress accordingly for the colder weather. Families in need of winter jackets, hats, or gloves may contact our Student Services Office, 717- 459-9003.
