  • Using Caution in Parking Lots & Throughway

    Safety concerns have been brought to our attention involving the MES parking lots and throughway behind Dayspring Christian Academy.

    We urge you to use caution in these areas, watching for students, and driving slowly. Thank you for your attention as we work together to ensure the safety of all students and staff!

  • PA Association of Gifted Education Names Mr. Snyderman Educator of the Year

    In October 2019, Dan Snyderman, Gifted Support Teacher for Mountville Elementary School and Landisville Intermediate Center, was notified that he has been awarded the Pennsylvania Association of Gifted Education’s (PAGE) Educator of the Year award!    
     
    According to PAGE, the 2019 Educator of the Year Award is awarded based on the following criteria:

    • Outstanding performance as an educator in or beyond the classroom
    • Understanding the unique traits and learning needs of gifted children
    • Successful networking with school staff, parents, and community on behalf of gifted programs
    • Involvement in advocacy efforts for the gifted at local and state levels

     

    On November 15, Dan attended a dinner to receive this award. He said, "I’m excited for the opportunity to bring this award home for Hempfield. I also wanted to thank everyone for your continued support of our gifted programming."

    The Pennsylvania Association for Gifted Education is a nonprofit advocacy organization dedicated to helping gifted learners, parents and educators. An affiliate of National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC), since 1951, PAGE has assisted countless parents, teachers and administrators in helping Pennsylvania’s gifted learners reach their full potential.

    Hempfield School District presents the fourth annual Hempfield Holiday Shoppe – student craft show! Students from the Hempfield School District have been working hard making a variety of holiday gifts for that special person on your list. Please join us in supporting our district mini-businesses, operated by students, who are learning real world skills through this experience.

  • Connect with Hempfield for Winter Weather Alerts

    When winter weather is in the forecast, how can families stay informed of school delay and closing information? Hempfield School District communication channels are the most reliable resource to find this information. This includes:

    We contact only the television and radio stations listed here. Other stations may report Hempfield School District closings and delays but we are not responsible for providing them with information.

    In the event of an unplanned early dismissal, we will use our automated calling system to inform you of the dismissal. Phone numbers designated as emergency contacts #1 and #2 will be called, in addition to the student’s home number. Notifications will also be posted to the normal Hempfield School District communication channels.

  • Lunch Menu Changes Next Week

    Please note the following menu changes at Mountville Elementary School:

    • Monday, November 11 alternate meal will be Turkey Sub instead of meatball sub.
    • Wednesday, November 13 alternate meal will be Grilled Cheese with goldfish instead of meatballs with penne.

  • Early Dismissal Friday, November 8, 2019

    Mountville Elementary School will have an early dismissal Friday, November 8, 2019. Students will be dismissed at 1:30 p.m.

    Kindergarten sessions are as follows:

    • AM Session 9:00-10:50 a.m.
    • PM Session 11:40 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

    Picture Re-takes & Class Photos

    Thursday, November 14 is picture re-take day and also our class photo day. Order forms will be sent home later this week for class pictures. If you want to have your child’s individual photo retaken please remember to send in the original packet, the original packet must be handed into the photographer for the student to have their photo retaken. 

    Spirit Sticks

    It’s great to see our MES students are enjoying collecting Spirit Sticks and supporting the PTO! Our November Spirit Stick Thursday dates are November 7 and 21 at 8:40-9:00 a.m. in the cafeteria and at PM Kindergarten drop off in the Kindergarten hallway right outside of the classrooms. Sticks are $1 each or Buy 4 Get 1 Free. Our special “Stick of the Month” for November and December is only $.75 and puts education FULL STEAM AHEAD!

    PTO Meeting

    The next PTO meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. here at Mountville Elementary School.

    PTO’s Restaurant Night Out

    November 8, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. Mountville PTO will host another family night out fundraiser at Isaac’s in Centerville. Isaac's donates 25% of your food and beverage purchase. We also give you 15% of gift cards sold, during your fundraiser, to be used on a future visit. Coupons and discounts cannot be used during a fundraiser.  

     ***NEED the FLYER FOR CREDIT: Each participant hands in a flyer or shows it on their phone, indicating they are part of the fundraiser to receive credit. The flyer is posted here for you to download and print or show on your phone to the staff at Isaac’s.

  • November School Board Meeting Reminder

    Our November School Board Meetings will be held on:

    • Tuesday, November 5
    • Tuesday, November 12 

    The Tuesday, November 5 meeting will be held in the Large Group Room 1 (LGI) at Hempfield High School, 200 Stanley Avenue, Landisville. Our district Administration Building is a polling place.

    The Tuesday November 12 meeting will be held in the Public Board Room of the district's Administration Building, 200 Church Street, Landisville.

    Agendas are posted to the website by 5:00 p.m. on the Friday before a School Board meeting.
