Hempfield Approves Girls Wrestling Team

Hempfield School District took steps toward building a girls wrestling team with the school board ‘s recent approval of the concept. The goal is to have a full team beginning next year for the 2023-24 season.

With the approval, work will now begin to provide information to girls interested in the program, help them get their clearances and physicals, promote the program widely to gain interest, and schedule some competitions.

Girls wresting is an emerging sport with a strong foundation and an increased interest coming up from the elementary and middle school levels. Current high school girls who have an interest in or questions about the program are encouraged to stop in the Athletic Office at the high school or contact them at 717-898-5515.
