  • EPES PTO Thanks & Request for Volunteers

Posted by Kimberly Snyder on 9/24/2021 3:15:00 PM

A HUGE shout out goes to our AMAZING PTO and East Pete Volunteers who gave their time to make our Book Fair last week a great success. Thank YOU for all you do for East Pete! The shopping was fun and the PTO Social was wonderful.

Speaking of Volunteers- we're bringing back the cool opportunity of volunteering at lunch times. Volunteers who come in during lunch with support the staff in guiding students to their lunch seat, helping students open their lunch packages, and help with cleaning up tables/chairs between lunches.

Volunteers who would love to help with this opportunity must have up to date clearances on file! To volunteer in this way check out the sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F0A4BA4A628AAFB6-lunch

On Saturday, October 2, the Hempfield Foundation will be holding its First Annual Spirit 5K Run/Walk and Half-Mile Kids Run at Georgelis Law Firm Stadium. The 5K Run/Walk begins at 9:00 AM and the kids run (12 and under) starts at 10:15 AM. The course for the 5K includes the Hempfield campus and the neighborhood around the high school. The kiddos will run two laps around the track in the stadium. All proceeds benefit the Foundation which provides grants to Hempfield teachers and staff for a wide range of projects and programs in all HSD school buildings. Examples include funding for One Book, One School, musical instruments and outside instruction in elementary, middle and high school buildings, library improvements in elementary, middle and high school buildings, lab equipment, coding kits and other STEAM projects, reading development such as sound walls, and physical education/athletic program enhancements, etc.). The Foundation also provides grants for emotional support initiatives at all levels. In addition, the foundation provides more than $25,000 through 10 scholarships and awards to graduating seniors.

  • Reminder: Safe2Say Something Reporting

Posted by Kimberly Snyder on 9/20/2021 3:00:00 PM

There is no topic more important than the safety and security of our students and the staff who work with them in our schools. We ask that our students, staff, and school community continue to share any concerns that arise using Safe2Say Something! Safe2Say Something is a school safety tool that will save lives.

Safe2Say Something is a youth violence prevention program run by the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General. The program teaches youth and adults how to recognize warning signs and signals, especially within social media, from individuals who may be a threat to themselves or others and to “say something” BEFORE it is too late. With Safe2Say Something, it’s easy and confidential to report safety concerns to help prevent violence and tragedies.

    How it works:

    • Submit an anonymous tip report through the Safe2SaySomething system.
    • Crisis center reviews, assesses, and processes all submissions.
    • Crisis center sends all submissions to school administration and/or law enforcement for intervention.
    • If needed, crisis center may contact tipster anonymously through the app. Download the app here.
