FES 2021 Field Days Announcement
Posted by Kimberly Snyder on 4/12/2021 4:30:00 PMTo the parents/guardians of Farmdale elementary school students –
Due to the current restrictions of COVID-19, there is a change being made to this year’s field days. Rather than run them as in year’s past, this year’s field days will take place during your student’s/students’ regularly scheduled physical education classes to allow for social distancing throughout the month of May. This will allow the students to still participate in their field days and meet the current government/district guidelines to mitigate the virus. Please continue to send your students wearing sneakers and an optional water bottle on PE days. Unfortunately, this also means that there will not be spectators allowed at this year’s field days. Virtual learners will participate in a Virtual Field Day as they did last year. Thank you for understanding!
Sincerely,
Mr. Bernhardt

PSSA State Assessment Information for Elementary Students
Posted by Kimberly Snyder on 4/8/2021 2:55:00 PMPSSA state assessments at the elementary level begin on Monday, April 19, 2021. We want to share a few reminders and some changes that are taking place due to this unprecedented year.
Opt Out Procedures
If you would like to do so, you may opt out your student from some of the testing or all of the testing. Be sure that your letter indicates the specific tests your child will not be taking. This could include:
- Math and ELA for Grades 3, 5, and 6
- Math, ELA, and Science for Grade 4
If you have already submitted an opt out letter and did not indicate this information, please resubmit a letter to your child’s principal with this information, along with the opt out reason:
- Due to religious conflict
- Due to parent/guardian refusal
As part of the opt out process due to conflict with your religious beliefs, the parent/guardian must review the testing materials in-person at the school. Our secretaries will be in touch with families to schedule a time for this to occur. If opting out as a parent/guardian refusal, you do not need to review testing materials.
Attendance Options During PSSA Testing
Due to the limited amount of space in our buildings as a result of social distancing, a change for this year is the attendance options for those students who are not taking PSSA tests. Families may choose one of the following options for the week of April 19-23:
- Students attend full day and complete asynchronous work in an opt out room during testing. Students then join their classroom after testing is finished.
- Students stay home in the AM and complete asynchronous work. Students then get dropped off to attend school in-person for the PM. The family must drop off students at the designated times.
- Students stay home in the AM and complete asynchronous work. Students stay at home in the PM and attend school virtually.
In order for us to plan for the amount of space needed, please contact the school principal, provide a letter with the opt out subjects and reason, and list the attendance option you are choosing for the testing window.
If you have questions, please contact the principal at your child’s school who will have more specific details of start and end times and accommodations. Thank you!
