Summer Smarties
Posted by Alicia Jay on 6/5/2025 4:00:00 PMSummer Smarties
On the last day of school, each student brought home a “Summer Smarties” certificate. Their teachers gave them a list of ideas/activities that they can complete over the summer. These ideas are a fun way to prevent summer slide, the learning loss that can happen over summer break. If your child completed the activities, sign their certificate and have the student bring it back on the first day of school (Aug. 20). All students who return their certificate will receive a prize. Here is a picture of the certificate that your student brought home:

Field Day Update
Posted by Alicia Jay on 5/29/2025 4:00:00 PMRain, Rain, Go Away… we want to have outdoor Field Day.
We have been monitoring the weather forecast for tomorrow (Fri. 530). It appears we MAY be able to hold Field Day (for grades 2-5) outdoors. This will be a “game day” decision made by Mr. Bernhardt and Mrs. Pearson. Spectators are welcome only if Field Day is outdoors. Please pack an extra pair of dry socks/shoes for your student as the grass will most likely be wet.
In the event of rain, or if field conditions are too wet, we will go with our backup plan to have Field Day indoors with no spectators. No further announcement will be coming out regarding tomorrow’s plan. Keep an eye on the weather.
Visitor Parking: If Field Day is outdoors, all spectators will need to use the parking lot as well as space along the bus loop (closest to Prospect Road) to park. Please do NOT park in the car rider loop or on the grass. To provide more parking for spectators, we have asked faculty/staff members to park in the back of the building or carpool from the Chinese Bible Church of Lancaster across the street.

These iPads are being replaced over the summer and must be turned in. If you have a student in one of these grades, please know that these devices and chargers are being collected throughout the end of this week as well as next week. (See scheduled dates below). Apple iPads and chargers in these grade levels must be turned in. (Students in ESY or Summer School do NOT need to turn in their iPad until the program is completed in August.)

- Grade 9 Collection: Monday, June 2nd through Wednesday, June 4th: HHS Commons and PAC Lobby

Grades 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, and 11
Students in these grade levels have the option to turn in their iPad or keep it at home for use this summer. The district will be collecting iPads from students who wish to turn them in for summer storage next week (June 2nd-June 4th). Chargers should remain at home for use next school year and will NOT be collected if a student is turning in their iPad for the summer. Students who turn in the iPad for the summer will receive the iPad in their new homeroom at the start of the 2025-2026 school year. Please contact the Technology Office at 717-898-5596 for any iPad-related questions over the summer.
