2019-20 School Year Vaccinations for Grades 7 & 12

The Pennsylvania Public School Code requires certain immunizations for all children attending Pennsylvania schools, unless the child has a medical or religious/philosophical exemption. Students in all grades must have at least one dose of the vaccinations listed below by the first day of school or risk exclusion when the 2019-20 school year begins.

  • 4 doses of tetanus, diphtheria, and acellular pertussis
  • 4 doses of polio
  • 2 doses of measles, mumps, and rubella
  • 3 doses of hepatitis B
  • 2 doses of varicella (chickenpox) or evidence of immunity

Please plan ahead! The additional vaccines required for entering into grades 7 and 12 are as follows:

Grade 7: 

  • 1 dose of tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis (Tdap)
  • 1 dose of meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV) 

Grade 12:

  •  1 dose of meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV)

(If one dose was given at 16 years of age or older, that shall count as the twelfth-grade dose.)

Families must provide updated immunization records no later than Thursday, August 22, which is the first day of the 2019-20 school year.
