    Grades K, 3, 6, 9, and 12

iPads and chargers are being collected from students currently in grades K, 3, 6, 9, and 12. These iPads are being replaced over the summer and must be turned in. If you have a student in one of these grades, please know that these devices and chargers are being collected throughout this week. Apple iPads, charging blocks, charging cables and iPad cases in these grade levels must be turned in. (Students in ESY or Summer School do NOT need to turn in their iPad until the program is completed in August.)

Grade 12 Collection: Tuesday, May 21, 7:30am-9am – PAC Lobby

Grade 9 Collection: Wednesday, May 22 through Friday, May 24 – HHS Commons and PAC Lobby

Grades K, 3, 6 Collection: Wednesday, May 22 through Friday, May 24 – student homeroom

    Grades 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, and 11

Students in these grade levels have the option to turn in their iPad or keep it at home for use this summer. The district will collect iPads from students who wish to turn them in for summer storage this week (May 22-May 24). Chargers should remain at home for use next school year and will NOT be collected if a student is turning in their iPad for the summer. Students who turn in the iPad for the summer will receive the iPad in their new homeroom at the start of the 2024-2025 school year.

Please contact the Technology Office at 717-898-5596 for any iPad related questions over the summer.

    This Week at HHS

    Principal’s Message

    HHS Community,

Our students did a great job with their Keystone exams last week and with navigating our special schedules. It doesn’t seem right saying so, but this is our last week of school. Please take note that on Friday we will be dismissed at noon, and we will not be serving lunch. Families with seniors, please be sure to reference the Reminders for Seniors post that I shared this past Friday.

With this being the last week of school, it is time for us to collect iPads from our Seniors and our Freshman. iPad collection information has been shared with students via Schoology. Hempfield School District leases iPads for 3 years. Seniors do not get to keep their iPad when they graduate. Freshman must return their iPad so that they can be issued a new device that they will keep for grades 10, 11, and 12. The only exception is for students that are registered for summer school. If a student needs their device for summer school, they may keep it and turn it in at the end of summer school.

We have been informed that due to unforeseen circumstances, there will be a delay in shipping the yearbook this year. The publisher moved the printing machinery to another building, and they ran into some difficulties. The projected shipping day is between Wednesday, May 29, and June 5. All books that were ordered from Balfour online will be delivered home. It can take up to 2 weeks for all books to reach their destination. Any books ordered from Mrs. Walburn will be picked up at the school. You will receive a phone call when pick-up is available. So very sorry for the delay.

Finally, I’d like to thank our community for helping us to Raise the Bar at HHS this year and for all that you have done to support our students. We have had a wonderful school year, and we could not have done it without you.

Thank you and have a wonderful week!

    This Week at HHS

    Principal’s Message

    HHS Community,

Scoring proficient or advanced on the Keystone Exams is the clearest and easiest Pathway to Graduation. HHS will be administering Keystone Exams this week for students enrolled in Algebra 1B, Biology, or English 10.  All students taking one Keystone Exam will complete Module 1 on May 13th and Module 2 on May 14th from 7:40-9:40AM using a modified bell schedule.  All students who are not testing on these days will report to their Period 1 class on May 13th and their Period 2 class on May 14th. The special schedules for May 13th and 14th are posted in the Schoology calendar.

HHS will operate under a regular bell schedule on May 15th and 16th.  However, students who are taking a second or third Keystone exam will take Module 1 on Wednesday, May 15th and Module 2 on Thursday, May 16th.  Students taking additional exams will follow an alternative schedule. The remainder of students at HHS will follow their normal schedule.  CTC students taking a third Keystone exam will not go to CTC on these days.  All students testing should have received a letter in the mail with their comprehensive testing information.  Bus transportation, breakfast and lunch shifts will operate as usual.

We will be hosting Commencement for the class of 2024 next Wednesday, May 22nd at 6:00pm in the Georgelis Larson and Sabatino Injury Law Firm Stadium. Families of the class of 2024 be sure to check the Commencement Tab of the HHS Website for information on this event, and other senior related activities that will take place.
