Please review these slides regarding the Responsible Use of Technology for Students, including the iPad case.

Students may not remove the iPad case at any time for any reason.  If there is a need, such as a water spill or stand that comes off, students should report it to their teacher who will contact someone in the technology department to address the issue.

• Go to Settings  > Wi-Fi (turn on Wi-Fi, if turned off)
• Tap on a network name and enter the password, if required.
• If the Wi-Fi icon appears at the top of the screen, iPad is connected to a Wi-Fi network. (To verify this, open Safari to view a webpage.) The iPad reconnects when you return to the same network location.

If you are having trouble with home internet connectivity, reach out to your Internet Service Provider for assistance. There are no Wi-Fi network connection restrictions on the iPad. If the student can connect at school, they should be able to connect to other wireless networks.

Checking storage

• Go to Settings > General > iPad Storage. You might see a list of recommendations for optimizing your device's storage, followed by a list of installed apps and the amount of storage each one uses.
• Tap an app's name for more information about its storage.
  
  

Use recommendations to optimize storage

• In the Storage section of Settings, your device might offer recommendations for optimizing your storage. To optimize your storage:
• Tap Show All to see all the recommendations for your device.

Read the description of each recommendation, then tap Enable to turn it on or tap the recommendation to review the contents you can delete.

Please note, this action is not reversible. Any data, documents, or resources not backed up before erasing/resetting the iPad will be deleted.

• High School students can request Technology Support by completing an online ticket using FMX. Please review the Help Document for additional information regarding the process.

• At each middle school, students can request assistance by completing the Google form that is available via a QR code in any classroom. This is the preferred method for receiving support from the building tech liaison. However, students may also send a message to the Instructional Technology Specialist via Schoology message or email. If students are off campus, they may also call (717) 618-5086.
  
  

• If elementary students still need assistance after reviewing the information on this site, please contact the child’s teacher. They will initiate the technology support process.

Microsoft Office and the Adobe Creative Cloud suite of applications are available for students to install and use at home depending on their grade level. Learn how to install and access this software.

• On the iPad, go to Settings  > Privacy & Security
• To see which apps have access to various types of information on your device, select a type of data from the list.

You’ll see which apps have asked for permission to use that data. An app doesn’t appear on the list until it asks for permission, and you can grant or remove permission from any app that has asked for access. An app can use the data type in the setting only if you have given the app permission.

• Press and hold the top button (the power button) and the Home button at the same time.
• Continue to press and hold until the screen goes black.
• When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.

Open the Self-Service App on the iPad.

Base district apps (e.g., Schoology, Google Drive, Docs, etc.) will automatically reinstall.

Apps are organized in Self-Service by grade bands. All apps are reviewed and vetted by the Technology Department before they are added to Self-Service.

• Go to Settings
• Tap Sign in to your Apple ID
• Enter your Apple ID and password

The Apple ID is the student's email address and the password is the current network password.

• Do one of the following:
  • On an iPad with a Home button: Simultaneously press and then release the top button (the power button) and the Home button.
  • On other iPad models: Simultaneously press and then release the top button (on the top-right edge of iPad) and either volume button.
• Tap the screenshot in the lower-left corner, then tap Done.
• Choose Save to Photos, Save to Files, or Delete Screenshot.
  
  

If you choose Save to Photos, you can view it in the Screenshots album in the Photos app, or in the All Photos album if you’re using iCloud Photos.

• Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
• If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
• Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now.
