State Assessments

The following information provides students and parents with updates about state assessments and protocols established by the state and district to implement the assessments. Chapter 4 of the Pennsylvania School Code requires the development of rigorous academic standards and assessments, applicable only to the public schools in this Commonwealth, to facilitate the improvement of student achievement and to provide parents and communities a measure by which school performance can be determined.

The provisions of Chapter 4 require the state to develop assessments to that determine student proficiency in the Academic Standards for English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Technology. The tables below outline the assessments for grade levels (PSSAs) and assessments upon specific course completion (Keystones).
