Math Department Requirements
To fulfill graduation requirements, students must complete four mathematics credits from the courses listed below. Common course sequences are below. With teacher recommendation, students may change levels to find the appropriate level of challenge.

Fundamentals
Placement in the fundamentals math sequence is based on the recommendation of the Secondary Special Education Supervisor and Secondary Math Coordinator.
Math Department Electives
In addition to the required math courses, students may elect any of the following courses to broaden their math background:
- Statistics AP
- Introduction to Programming
- Computer Science Princples AP
- Computer Science AP
- Test Prep: SAT/ACT
AP Courses
AP courses are aligned to the College Board course requirements and provide students with the opportunity to take the Advanced Placement test at the end of the course to earn college credits through many universities. For more information go to http://apstudents.collegeboard.org
PA Department of Education Information
The Pennsylvania Department of Education requires one standardized assessment related to the math department.
At the end of Algebra IB, students take the Keystone Algebra exam.
Curriculum in Algebra IA and IB is aligned to eligible content for these exams and to the Pennsylvania Common Core State Standards.
Students who do not score proficient or advanced on the first administration will re-take the assessment near the end of their Algebra II course.
Demonstrating proficiency is a graduation requirement. More information is available here:
