FAME The Musical, will feature a cast of 80 student performers and an all-student orchestra of 17 musicians directed by High School Choral Director and Music Teacher, Mr. Alejandro Ramos, and stage director/choreographer, Mr. Cody Smith.
Audience members should note that some of the material may be inappropriate for young children as the show has been rated PG-13.
The show follows the final class of New York City's celebrated High School for the Performing Arts from their admission in 1980 to their graduation in 1984. All of the struggles, fears and triumphs – from prejudice to substance abuse – are depicted with razor-sharp focus as the young artists navigate the worlds of music, drama and dance.
Conceived and developed by David De Silva – now known affectionately to the planet as "Father Fame" – this high-octane musical features the Academy Award-winning title song and a host of other catchy pop numbers. Fame is an international sensation that continues to reach new generations of performers and audience members. The show provides great opportunities to feature a diverse talent pool and showcase artistic mediums like dancing, singing, acting, rapping and musicianship.
In Hempfield’s production, senior, Michael Agadis will play the role of Shlomo Metzenbaum, senior, Norberto Rodriguez-Caraballo will play Tyrone Jackson, junior, Noah Felty will play Nick Piazza, senior, Lily Wernoch will play Iris Kelly, senior, Jade Alston will play Carmen Diaz, junior, Camryn Ackerman will play Mabel Washington, junior, Hunter Smith will play Jose “Joe” Vegas, Colin Meldrum will play Goodman 'Goody' King, Macey Lake will play Grace 'Lambchops' Lamb, and senior, Laura Claire Walker will play Serena Katz.
Dance Captain, Mackenzie Toole, senior will perform with 20 feature dancers, and 40 ensemble members.
All public performances are on-demand streaming through ShowTix4U and can be accessed between Friday, April 30 at 5:00 p.m. through 11:59 p.m. Sunday, May 2. The cost for a single on demand rental is $15.00, and the cost for a household rental is $25.00. Streaming details are available online at www.hempfieldsd.org/tickets.
