Hempfield COVID-19 Testing

  • Since August 2020, Hempfield School District has partnered with Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health (PMLGH) for medical guidance and consultative services related to COVID-19 and the school setting. Beginning in January 2021, PMLGH will partner with Hempfield School District to offer COVID-19 testing for students and staff members, if the following conditions are present:

    • If a staff member or student has been identified as a primary contact in the school setting to a COVID positive individual and has symptoms, which are confirmed by the Certified School Nurse.
    • If a staff member or student is identified as a primary contact of an individual who has tested positive for COVID and is asymptomatic, as long as the last date of possible exposure meets the current PA Department of Health recommendations.
    • If a student or staff members experiences a sudden onset of symptoms during the school day and the symptoms are consistent with current guidance and confirmed by the Certified School Nurse.

COVID testing is provided as a service to Hempfield students and staff. This is another measure the district is putting in place to help mitigate a COVID outbreak in school buildings and to keep students safely learning in-person, when desired.
