Dual Enrollment

  • Dual Enrollment is a program that encourages a broader range of high school students to experience postsecondary coursework, while still in the supportive environment of their local high school. The intent is to increase the number of students that go on to postsecondary education and to decrease the need for remedial coursework at postsecondary institutions. The program allows for students to concurrently enroll in post-secondary courses and to receive both secondary and postsecondary credit for that coursework.
Students must be on track for graduation as a junior or senior, have a 3.0 GPA or higher, and obtain a qualifying score on their Collegeboard tests (SAT, ACT, ACCUPLACER) to apply for this off campus opportunity.

Hempfield partners with the following local colleges:
    • PA College Health Sciences

    • Lancaster Bible College

    • Elizabethtown College

    • Penn State York

    • Millersville University

    • HACC Lancaster

    • Thaddeus Stevens

Students must complete an application to the respective college(s). Once admitted, students may take up to two college courses each semester. These courses are typically general education courses that most college freshman have to take. The courses at the college will be blended with high school course requests and will not exceed 8 credits for the year.
