Hempfield High School encourages student participation in the arts and endorses a curriculum which supports student interest in art, music, drama, and dance. The Performing Arts Center or PAC hosts a myriad of student events in these areas throughout the school year. Students who wish to sing have a number of choirs they can choose to participate in. Each year a school musical is performed in the Performing Arts Center.

Choral performers are a part of the Holiday Concert in December each year and a Spring Concert in May. The dramatic arts come to the stage at the Performing Arts Center (PAC) in fall and spring and bring plays to life for children and adults alike. Hempfields student band, jazz band, orchestra, and symphonic orchestras also perform in the Performing Arts Center at special concerts scheduled throughout the school year. Hempfield High School is well known for its Dance Theatre program. This program involves over 150 students and is unique in its focus on dance. Dance Theatre draws an audience from all over Central Pennsylvania.

Hempfield High Schools PAC is a state-of-the-art showcase for the entire community. It was built as a part of major renovations to HHS in the early 1990s and was open for the first performances in the fall of 1995. It provides seating for 1,300 people and stage area for high school productions, assembly programs, and community presentations. Lighting, sound amplification, set flying, natural acoustics, and wing space are a part of the technology that supports this area. Costume storage cabinets and men's and women?s dressing rooms afford valuable and necessary space for theatrical productions. Prior to 1995, Hempfield theatrical productions were housed in the Hackman Auditorium. As part of the renovations, Hackman Auditorium was revamped as a smaller auditorium and the rear section of the facility now houses a band room, an orchestra room, offices, and practice areas.
