 Hempfield High School Presents
“A Midsummer Night’s Dream”

This year’s Hempfield High School’s fall production scheduled for Friday Novemeber 20 and Saturday November 21 at 7:30 in the Performing Arts Center is William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”  As everyone knows, the beauty of Shakespeare is that his works can be placed anywhere, in any time period.  Our production is placed on a Caribbean island in 2009.   Shakespeare’s forest is the island’s jungle. Entertainment tonight, “Somebody’s Gotta Have Talent,” the Weather Channel, and “on-the-spot” reporters comment on the action.  The characters break into songs, ranging form “Mamma Mia,” to “Oh, What a Night.” The fairies dance and the actors blend Shakespearean language with improvisation to give the play a modern flair.

For more information regarding the show, please be sure to check out our Performing Arts Page.

District Calendar Changes

Please make note of the following date changes that will occur in January and March/April:

  • The early dismissal days scheduled for January 22, 25, and 26 will now be full-length school days.
  • The early dismissal days will now occur on January 19, 20, and 21 - the 21st will now be the last day of the first semester. Semester 2 will begin on Friday, January 22, 2010.
  • The last day of the third marking period will now be March 30, not April 6, 2010.

These modifications have been made because of changes that place all statewide PSSA testing in the month of April this spring. These calendar adjustments will result in the lengthening of the 4th marking period by three days, thus providing our teachers with additional instructional time that would otherwise be lost to the PSSA testing schedule.
