Music

"Recent studies have demonstrated clearly that music education enhances numerous aspects of a child's social development and academic success.  Students who experience music fully in a public school setting are better participants in group activities, have better emotional expression, and exhibit better emotional management in their lives.  The Vision of the Hempfield School District Music Department is the enrichment of our students, our community, and ourselves through the art of music.  Our mission is to provide varied and engaging classroom, rehearsal, lesson, and performance experiences; to impart musical skills, knowledge, and emotional expression; to enhance students’ well being and to inspire and nurture the love of music in all students."

Visual Arts

"We live in a visual world where communications are enhanced through artistic understandings.  Our goal, in the Hempfield Art Department is to awaken and empower the artistic voice within each and every student.   Through meaningful learning experiences we invent solutions, solve problems, construct meaning, question, investigate and connect to other disciplines.  Students learn to truly look, see and interpret the world around them. Efforts start in the elementary schools and develop through elective courses at the high school level.  Each building in the district endeavors to foster developing artistic minds through the display of student artwork in their spring art show.  We invite you to wake the creative spirit within and empower your understandings through the visual arts."

Performing Arts Center

Hempfield High School encourages student participation in the arts and endorses a curriculum which supports student interest in art, music, drama, and dance. The Performing Arts Center or PAC hosts a myriad of student events in these areas throughout the school year. Students who wish to sing have a number of choirs they can choose to participate in. Each year a school musical is performed in the Performing Arts Center.
