Technology Department

 The Technology Department is responsible for the management and oversight of all forms of technology in the district.  This list includes hardware, software, classroom technology integration and instruction, networking, telecommunications, student data, and security.  Based in the District Administration Building, the department consists of a director, assistant director, and three specialized teams: instruction, operations, and student data.

The instruction team is responsible for staff development and ensuring that teachers have the proper support when integrating technology into their lessions. Team members include Vicki Reed, Jim Albright, Rae Ann Smith, Susan Allen, and Joanne Jones.  The Classrooms for the Future grant program has been tremendously successful at the high school and is being used as a basis for similar district led initiatives at the elementary and middle school levels.

Operations covers all of the traditional technology resposibilities such as overseeing the proper functioning of hardware, software, and network, as well as more specialized tasks such as maintaining the district data center and managing building security systems.  The operations team consists of John Ferenz, Ryan Good, Ryan Breneman, Jeff Elliott, and Mark Rineer.

Student Data responsibilities include the management of the student information system for grades and child accounting, state reporting, and standardized testing data collection.  Vicki Woerner and Beth Parkins make up the Student Data Team.

Sixth grade students at Mountville Elementary School participated in a web cast hosted by Scholastic.com featuring the authors of the “39 Clues” Series.  The authors of the first six books in the ten book series shared information about the series with students. Students also completed timed, challenging puzzles and submitted answers online to the authors.  [...]
