Hempfield Educational Foundation
The Hempfield Educational Foundation was established and incorporated on November 4, 1993 after interested Hempfield residents met to discuss ways to enhance the educational opportunities of the public school students. Through their efforts, the foundation became a reality and today is a private, nonprofit charitable organization with twelve board members drawn from each of the elementary attendance areas and the school district at large.
Today the assets of the Foundation include several scholarship accounts, multiple investments, and funds which finance mini-grants for teachers in the district. Recently the Foundation has gained approval for special projects which can be funded through the Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program for corporate and business donations. Fund raisers for the Foundation include: a Hempfield Employee Payroll Deduction program, an annual golf tournament, and the sale of bricks for the Alumni Plaza. Donations from individuals and alumni classes are also welcome.
