Standard and Poor's Report Analysis
Hempfield School District conducts the business of education from a data-driven perspective. We pride ourselves on using the most up-to-date, quality data to develop curriculum and methods of teaching. To accomplish this, we collect, value and process all kinds of data including, but certainly not limited to, test scores as planning tools.
Therefore, the Hempfield School District has examined the information provided by Standard and Poor's. As all of the data provided are relatively old data (2 years old) that Hempfield already possessed, processed and integrated with all of the other data it collects continually. All of this information that Standard and Poor's used has been readily available to anyone via the following web site: www.schoolmatters.com. The logic of how Standard and Poor's approached this process of interpreting and organizing the data remains to be determined in light of its cost and utility to the Commonwealth. After examining the school's report, you will identify common findings for the most well-respected districts in the state, including the following:
- Well above-average student performance on the PSSA
- Well above-average SAT combined score
- Exceptionally above-average Advanced Placement scores
- Well below-average administration expenditures per student
Along with our No Child Left Behind data, we are using the Standard and Poor's information regarding student subgroups to supplement our respective improvement efforts. However, Standard & Poor's analytical findings do not capture information that is more recent and should not be interpreted as necessarily reflecting a school system's current circumstances or performance.
