The Hempfield Board of School Directors provides funding for 24 varsity sports and a total of 66 teams competing at the varsity, junior varsity, junior high, and junior high junior varsity.
Athletics are recognized as an integral part of the total educational program of the Hempfield School District. The first and foremost purpose of the Hempfield School District is to provide the best education for our student athletes. Athletics are an extension of the academic curriculum. Athletics contribute to the physical, social, emotional and moral development of the students involved.
Since it is a privilege to participate on extracurricular teams, each student athlete carries with them responsibilities and expectations set forth by the PIAA and the Hempfield Board of School Directors.
Our goal is to develop highly competitive athletes without losing sight of the educational process and its values of sportsmanship, health, and scholastic achievement.
In 2007-2008, varsity teams combined for 8 LL League Titles, 1 District 3 Title and several runs deep into PIAA tournaments including Girls Tennis, PIAA team Silver Medalist. Hempfield's teams have won 9 PIAA titles over the past 9 years.
